A brindle French Bulldog is a variation of the French Bulldog breed, known for its distinctive brindle coat pattern which features “tiger stripes” of various shades of brown, black, or fawn on a lighter background.

It’s a rare color in French Bulldogs and adds a unique touch to their already adorable appearance.

Now, when it comes to the blue brindle French Bulldog, that is an even more special coat type, because those pups have blue-ish or grayish stripes instead of the more commonly found brown ones.

This coat color is the result of a gene mutation that gives the fur its trademark tint. While uncommon, the blue brindle is a highly sought-after color and adds a unique touch to this popular breed.

How Rare Is The Blue Brindle French Bulldog?

Blue brindle Frenchies are regarded as extremely rare, and because of that, this breed variety is highly sought after.

It is less prevalent than other coat hues including regular old brindle, fawn, and black.

It’s hard to pinpoint the exact rarity of the blue brindle French Bulldog because it varies depending on breeding procedures and geographical area.

Not a lot of breeders produce this type (mostly because it’s not a straightforward process), but you might happen to live in an area where there is a breeder that focuses solely on the blue brindle Frenchie.

Several recessive genes must be present for a Frenchie to be blue brindle. First of all, the dilution gene, which lightens the base coat color, has to be present.

This gene, which can be found in the D locus, is frequently called the “blue gene.” It is a recessive gene which makes it significantly more uncommon and requires both parents to pass it on.

On top of that, the coat needs to be brindled. That essentially means that lighter and deeper tones of blue will be present throughout the coat as a result.

French Bulldog breeders frequently strive to avoid the brindle pattern, but pet owners love it because of the lovely patterns it often produces.

Is The Blue Brindle Frenchie Purebred?

This is a slightly complicated issue, but I’ll do my best to explain it in simple terms.

Naturally, a blue brindle Frenchie puppy can be the offspring of two blue brindle parents, and that would make it a purebred dog. However, you can still end up with a blue brindle French Bulldog even if one of its parents is of a different color (although that is very rare).

That’s where things get murky as it makes it tough to draw an exact line between purebred and non-purebred.

Furthermore, the American Kennel Club (AKC) breed standard does include brindle as an acceptable standard coloration, but if you dig deeper into it, you will find that blue is a disqualifying color.

So if you plan to register your blue brindle Frenchie with the AKC, things will not be straightforward and you will probably face some opposition.

What Is Their Personality Like?

How many times have you heard the phrase “true beauty is on the inside, not the outside”?

Well, I’m here to say it again, except this time I am talking about blue brindle Frenchies. And in their defense, they have a lot of beauty both on the outside and the inside.

French Bulldogs, including the blue brindle variation, are known for their affectionate, playful, and charming personalities. They are a low-energy breed that loves to cuddle and be close to their owners, making them great lap dogs.

They are also known for their stubbornness, making training a bit of a challenge, but they are intelligent and eager to please their owners.

Overall, the Blue Brindle French Bulldog is a fun-loving and playful companion that will bring joy and laughter to your life.

How To Groom A Blue Brindle French Bulldog?

Grooming is a big thing when it comes to dog ownership, and if you plan to adopt a new dog, you have to know its needs.

With that in mind, I can safely say that the blue brindle Frenchie is a fairly low-maintenance breed, at least when it comes to its coat.

Their short, silky, hypoallergenic coat only needs occasional grooming. Regular brushing and occasional bathing are advised to keep the coat clean and remove loose fur and prevent matting.

To avoid skin irritability and infection, their creases and folds should be cleaned frequently.

Is The Blue Brindle French Bulldog A Healthy Dog?

If all this has seemed a bit too good to be true, now is the time to bring the bad news. I’m incredibly sad to say that blue brindle French Bulldogs are not particularly healthy.

But it doesn’t have anything to do with their color!

Health problems such as brachycephalic obstructive syndrome, skinfold dermatitis, and cherry eye are all common ailments in all Frenchies.

Furthermore, since they have a brachycephalic head shape, they are prone to frequent issues with heavy breathing and overheating.

This can be made worse if they live in areas with hot climates. They have a very thin coat which is not very good in protecting them from sunlight, and it doesn’t even keep them warm in the winter, if we’re being honest.

A moderate climate is by far the best setting for a blue brindle French Bulldog.

How Much Does It Cost?

French Bulldogs in general are a dog breed that is in high demand, and that is something that dictates their price.

High demand usually results in high price, and you can probably guess that a rare version of a Frenchie also results in a rarely high price.

You can find French Bulldog pups in breeders for prices ranging from $1,500 to $8,000, and the ones with the blue brindle-colored coat will probably be closer to the high end of that range.

That is if you’re even lucky enough to find a breeder that sells this rare breed in your area. If you happen to find one that is located far away from you, expect your costs to go significantly up since you will have to travel yourself and/or pay for the transfer of the puppy.

If it makes you feel any better, it’s probably not as expensive as the lilac or the isabella Frenchie.

Final Thoughts

Well folks, that’s a wrap on all things beautiful and brindle in the French Bulldog world.

To sum it up, the blue brindle French Bulldog is a rare and stunning pup that is sure to turn heads and capture hearts.

Just remember, their beauty goes far beyond their coat – they are a loveable, loyal companion that deserves a forever home filled with belly rubs and endless treats.

So, if you’re ready to add a unique and stunning pup to your pack, the blue brindle French Bulldog just might be the one for you!
