We all know that we don’t really choose who we connect with… it just happens naturally. And, that is exactly what happened to the pup of this story.

When a dog named Milo went out for his daily walk with his dad, he never thought that he would find himself a friend for life.

While running around the park, something pink caught Milo’s eye. When he went to investigate, he noticed that it was actually an injured bird.

When Milo’s dad saw how concerned the pup was for the well-being of the bird, he knew he had to take it with them.

The family tried their best to make the Galah bird, later named Cracker, feel as comfortable as it could, and Milo made sure that Cracker never felt alone.

Milo sat by Cracker’s cage for the entire day, letting his new friend know that he had his back.

As time went on, Cracker started getting better, and soon made a full recovery. The family decided to put him on top of the cage, letting him know that he was free to go. But, Cracker decided to stay.

“Cracker would start to come down to the bottom of the cage and he would sit next to Milo and Milo would sit outside of the cage, try and lick him,” said Charlotte.

One day, Cracker decided to do something new. He got out of his cage and climbed down to the ground, right where Milo was standing.

We all just stopped. We kind of wanted to see what would happen. Milo was just so excited, wagging his tail, he followed Cracker around the living room, and then it just became this friendship.

Soon, the pair became inseparable. Whenever Cracker would lose Milo out of his sight, he would start screaming, calling him to come back.

They also started cuddling together, which, at first, looked as if Milo was crushing Cracker, but that was far from the truth. Cracker loves being showered with love by his furry friend.

Milo would be sitting with Cracker in his big bed and Cracker’s a bit annoying, he gets up in your personal space, so Milo would get annoyed sometimes and he would move to the other bed. Cracker would just follow him and sit in that bed. Milo would change beds and Cracker would follow him again.

Unfortunate Event

However, one morning, Cracker suddenly flew away.

Even though the family felt a bit bittersweet since they wanted him to be free, it wasn’t easy for them to say goodbye to somebody who became a part of the family.

But, Milo didn’t take this news too well.

Milo was really upset. He’d cry and look into the cage and see that it was empty.

Two weeks later, the family came across a Facebook post, saying that a Galah bird was found two suburbs over and it looked exactly like Cracker!

The family swiftly got into their car and headed over to pick up the bird, unsure if it really was Cracker. But, they knew how they were going to find out.

When they came home, they placed the bird in the cage and watched him, knowing that if he got down from the cage, it was Cracker.

And, sure enough, Cracker got down and immediately started playing with Milo as if nothing happened.

I was so happy but also in shock because who finds their bird after two weeks, especially this bird that had formed this relationship with my dog. It’s just so unbelievable!

Milo was so overjoyed that he had a smile from ear to ear, which wasn’t coming down any time soon.

The interesting pair was together again, finally being able to go back to their old habits, which were endless playdates and cuddle sessions.
