This reunion couldn’t be any sweeter! Firefighter Mike Thawley rescued a Pit Bull puppy and went to check on her at the local animal shelter.Mike is with Fire Station 14 in Sacramento, California. He found the sick puppy tied up in the rain and saved her. After getting her cleaned up, he brought her to the Front Street Animal Shelter for medical attention and care.

The next day he came to visit her and as you can see from the video below, she is very grateful.

Named Chunkie, the little pup instantly recognizes her rescuer and wags her tail and wants to be petted by Mike. Mike picks Chunkie up in his arms and puts an adorable pink sweater on her while she recovers from mange. And when he walks away from her, she wants to follow after him.

Watch the sweet moment in the video below:

However, Mike was not done helping out his newfound friend.

Mike, his wife Carla, and three daughters, decided unanimously to foster Chunkie during her rounds of treatment for a noncontagious form of mange and permanently adopt her afterward.

“We all just kind of fell in love with her,” Thawley said.

Mike said the family knew from the start of her foster care that Chunkie was part of the family.

Now THIS is a story worth sharing, don’t you think?
